Art, for me, is not just a means of expression — it’s a way to honor where I come from, to connect with the spirit of the Andes, and to invite others into that world.
I’m Willian Poccori Puma, but you may know me as Puma. I was born and raised in Cusco, Peru, a place where ancient traditions still whisper through the streets and mountains. That living energy has always inspired me, and I channel it into my work through surrealist composition, symbolic storytelling, and the iconography of Andean culture.
I started painting seriously in my early teens and studied at the School of Fine Arts in Cusco. My artistic voice was shaped not only by academic learning, but by the traditions passed down in my region — rituals, stories, beliefs about nature, the Pachamama (Mother Earth), and sacred elements like the coca leaf.
Through acrylics, oils, and watercolors, I blend contemporary techniques with ancestral wisdom, creating pieces that feel both timeless and urgent. My paintings are not just visual — they are meant to make you feel, reflect, and remember something ancient within yourself.
This blog will be a space where I share:
The stories behind my most meaningful works
The symbolism of Andean elements in my paintings
My creative process, inspirations, and challenges
Exhibitions, projects, and future artistic goals
Reflections on life as a Peruvian artist in a globalized world
Whether you’re an art lover, a collector, a fellow creative, or simply curious — I hope you’ll find something that resonates.
One of my most personal pieces, Paco is a tribute to the spiritual guides of our communities — the ones who walk between the visible and the invisible worlds. I’ll be sharing more about its meaning and process in an upcoming post.
Thank you for being here. Creating art is deeply personal, but sharing it gives it life. Through this blog, I hope to build bridges between my world and yours — one painting, one story at a time.
